Good Morning. This mornings message is coming from Matthew 17:1-13 entitled: Changed on the outside from within. I truly love this chapter of Matthew it begins with a glorious scene on a mountaintop, and ends with Peter catching a fish in order to pay his taxes. What contrast! Yet, Jesus Christ the is the theme of the entire chapter. Now this morning we are going to stay in the first thirteen verses of chapter 17 and we're going to take a look at 4 things this morning. 1. The King in His Glory 2. The Glory of His person 3. The Glory of His cross 4. The Glory of His submission Hope to see you at church. Services start with Sunday school at 10 am and main service at 11 am.

"What are you doing here?" This is what God asked Elijah in a whisper while he hid in a cave. To often we hide caves of life. We name them different things: addiction, debt, work, stress, youth, old age the list could go on and on. But I want to remind you what God said to Elijah and I believe he is still saying it this morning to us. “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by." What ever cave your hiding in this morning God is saying "Go out and stand in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by." May God bless you and keep you.

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is BEHIND and STRAINING toward what is ahead, I PRESS on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. Only let us live up to what we have already ATTAINED. JOIN, with others in FOLLOWING my EXAMPLE, brothers, and take note of those who live according to the PATTERN we gave you. For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we EAGERLY await a SAVIOR from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. Therefore, my brothers, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, that is how you should stand firm in the Lord, dear friends! This statement comes from Philippians 3:12-4:1. The apostle Paul wrote this to the church while in prison as a word of encouragement. I post it this morning for the same reason. My dear friends I have not already obtained all this, nor have I already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. My goal is Christ's goal for me, and I know Christ supplies the resources for me to press on toward that goal. Those Resources are grace, forgiveness, peace, strength, and his presence in my life. The truth is we all have these resources from Christ, and we all can run this race that is life with our eyes focused on the one who holds the finish line in his hands. I know that at times life isn't easy. But no one ever said it would be. To win at anything one must first put the work in to compete. Paul said, Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead that he pressed on. Does those words paint a easy path? No. But there was something of far greater worth ahead of him..CHRIST... and the work he leads all of us into.
Good morning Church family and friends. I wanted to share a book with you that I am going back through for the 2nd or 3rd time. His Name is Jesus by: Max Lucado Preface: Jesus was, at once, common and not; alternately normal and heroic. One minute blending in with the domino players in the park, the next commanding the hell out of madmen, disease out of the dying, and death out of the dead. Who was this man who spoke as easily with kids and fishermen as widows and waves? It is the question that has echoed down through the centuries to us today. His story was extraordinary. He called himself divine, yet allowed a minimum wage Roman soldier to drive a nail into his wrist. He demanded purity, yet stood for the rights of a repentant woman caught in adultery. He called men to march, yet refused to allow them to call him King. He sent men into all the world, yet equipped them with only bended knees and memories of a resurrected carpenter. We can't regard Him as simply a good teacher. his claims are too outrageous to limit him to the company of Socrates or Aristotle. Nor can we categorize him as one of many prophets sent to reveal eternal truths. His own claims eliminate that Possibility. Who is He? Let's try to find out. Let's follow his sandal prints. Let's sit on the cold, hard floor of the place in which he was born. Let's smell the sawdust of the carpentry shop. Let's hear his sandals slap the hard trails of Galilee. Let's sigh as we touch the healed sores of the leper. Let's smile as we see his compassion with the woman at the well. Let's let our voices soar with the praises of the multitudes. Let's try to see.............HIM. My prayer is that as you read this book Jesus will emerge from a wavy figure walking out of a desert mirage to become the touchable face of a best friend. My idea is simple. Let's look at some places he went and some people he touched. You may be amazed. More important, you may be changed. Max Lucado His name is Jesus. Loretta Anderson went on to be with the Lord yesterday. She was a wonderful, kind women and an influential person in the church. Heaven gained a new angel. Keep the family in your prayers.
